Edward C. Alexander is Professor of Chemistry at San Diego Mesa College. He received his B.S. degree from the City College of New York and his Ph.D. degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Iowa State University in the field of Organic Photochemistry.

Dr. Alexander has been a member of the faculty at San Diego Mesa College since 1989. Prior to joining the College, he held positions of Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Coordinator of the Third College Science and Technology Program at the University of California at San Diego, Visiting Associate Professor, California State University at Los Angeles, and Supervisor of Mathematics and Science, in the United States Navy Broadened Opportunity for Officers Selection and Training Program.

Dr. Alexander was Chair of Chairs from 1996-1999. He has published and presented over twenty-five papers in the fields of Chemical Research and Higher Education. He has also served as a consultant for government agencies and in private industry. Dr. Alexander is a recipient of the American Chemical Society 35 year Distinguished Service Award.
