Community Forum Previewed Plans for Rosa Parks Memorial Project at Mesa College
Community Forum: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009. Joe and Vi Jacobs Center, Community Room, Market Creek Plaza, 404 Euclid Ave., San Diego, near the corner of Market Street and Euclid.
A community forum was conducted to preview of plans a memorial honoring civil rights activist Rosa Parks being built at San Diego Mesa College in Kearny Mesa. The memorial will include an MTS transit stop and surrounds at the new east gateway entrance to Mesa College. The forum was held Wednesday, April 15, 2009, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Joe & Vi Jacobs Community Center, Market Creek Plaza, 404 Euclid Avenue. Speakers included Constance M. Carroll, Chancellor, San Diego Community College District; Dr. Rita M. Cepeda, President, Mesa College; Elizabeth Hamilton, Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self Development. Presentations were made by the designers of the memorial project, public artists Nina Karavasiles and Mario Lara, and diversity expert Dr. Gerda Govine-Ituarte, Ed.D.
